Nicole Richie and Jessica Alba

According to a report Nicole Richie and Jessica alba have been ’shunning partying’ for a game of ping pong.

Now I’m totally cool for the girls to be playing, but why shun the partying too. You can’t party while playing ping pong. With news that The Kings of Leon have given up drugs for ping pong this is a worrying trend.

Kings of Leon VS the King of Enlgand

There have been a few reports of the Kings of Leon playing Ping Pong. They have, apparently swapped drugs for Ping Pong

screen-shot-2011-02-06-at-15102-pm

I cannot in all honest condone that. And recently they played Prince Harry backstage at the O2 arena in London. Of the two princes I must admit I much prefer Harry to William. From being caught smoking weed to dressing up as a Nazi there is something more interesting than William. And you know what it would only take one polo accident and you have s toner as the King of england. Food for thought.

Anyway, read more about it here. Whatever happened to the Kings of Leon, weren’t they supposed to be Rock and Roll?

SPiN to open in Toronto

Global domination can’t be that far behind.

Article here. Although the most pressing question is that does mean we will be seeing more of Mike Myers representing Canadia in our noble sport. Hope so.

‘Everything you know is Pong’ Book Launch

img_38572

Last week saw the launch of ‘Everything you know is Pong’. The book is a fabulous collection of the weird and wonderful people behind the sport. A truly global enterprise this book settles the argument once and for all about what, really, is the world’s game. Written by the wonderful Roger Bennet (pictured above) and Eli Horowitz with chapters from Nick Hornby, Will Shortz and Jonathan Safran Foer and it has the answers to all the questions you never really thought you needed to know. Buy it here.

To launch the book there was a tournament at the Lincoln centre. Many of the authors played. In the end friend of CPP, Judah Friedlander - who is returning from injury, beat Will Shortz in a pretty epic final. It as a great night with all proceeds going to the 826 charity that helps kids with creative writing.

More photos to come. All photos by new CPP intern (woo hoo!) Stephen Day.

Big news for those of you on the wrong side of the pond. My old side of the pond. Having held their after show bash at SPiN a few weeks back Gorillaz main man Damon Albarn is reportedly setting up a London outpost of SPiN. Friend of CPP and issue 2 interviewee Susan Sarandon is helping make it happen.

I know a few people in London who want to take me on so lets do it!!

Diplo vs Gorillaz. Hits from the pong.

A lot of musicians seem to be hitting the pong. I was very sad to have missed the Goriallaz party at SPiN last week but I was in Buenos Aires, so I can’t really complain.

I have no idea whether Diplo (DJ and Major Laser dude) plays ping pong or not but there is a table at his block party at 04:11. I’m really just using this post as an excuse to show this film. He seems like a good dude, just wanting to do his thing. I’ll try to track him down for the magazine.

Ping Pong is like Crack

I saw a story about some kids breaking into a club in England and stealing a table. I love this for two reasons. If anyone is desperate enough to break in and steal a table, bearing in mind how effing big and heavy a table is they must really want that table. Like crack.

The other reason why I love this story is because the theft happened in High Wycombe which is a very small town in Buckinghamshire, England about 5 minutes from where I grew up. Bless.

West Coast Paddle Jam

Next sunday there is a pretty cool event in Hollywood. A celebrity tournament in conjunction with Joola and Sears. More info here:

picture-9

“On Sunday, September 26, stars from TV, Film, Sports and Music will unite with their favorite Non-Profit Organizations for The Ultimate Slam PaddleJam. Taking place at The Music Box in the heart of Hollywood, the 2010 PaddleJam is a celebrity ping pong tournament which will raise awareness for the crucial issues of multiple non-profits, while educating the public on the many ways to make a positive impact without necessarily reaching into their wallets.”

I’m sure the event will be a huge success. If you are in LA you should head down there.

Arcade Fire Vs Pavement

Seems like Aracde Fire have challenged Pavement to a game. Who would your money be on? I’m going with Pavement - the Mrs likes them better and you just get the feeling that having lost a few points to some dubious lets or an edge all the Arcade Fire people would start sulking. Harsh, I know, but what you gonna do?
